Lukas Medlam Violine
Half Brit, half Austrian, Lukas Medlam began playing the piano at the age of five, followed by the violin a year later. As a child, he listened to a lot of classical music, as his parents, both professional musicians, often rehearsed chamber music at home. It wasn't long before he discovered the works of Lanner, Lehar and the Strauss dynasty, and he quickly developed a particular affinity for Austrian salon music, a musical realm which he would later become very involved in. After completing his studies in physic at "Imperial College", London, he returned to the homeland of his mother, herself a violinist, to study in Vienna and begin a master's degree in violin performance there. The move to Vienna opened a whole new chapter in his life, as he soon found his home in several chamber orchestras and chamber music groups, and was able to focus even more intimately on Viennese music.
Whether in the Vienna Chamber Orchestra, on tour in China with the "Vienna Feuerhaus Sinfonietta", performing with the "Wiener Kammersinfonie" in Brazil, or even on board a ship with "P&O Cruises" in the Mediterranean with his string quartet, Lukas would regularly perform works of Johann Strauss Junior and co. in various instrumentations to new audiences. He hopes to continue not only to win the hearts of many through the charm of Viennese salon music, and its unique Viennese identity but also to convey the message of this timeless music to listeners from all walks of life.
