Stephanie Drach Viola
Stephanie Drach was born in Vienna in 1995 and began playing the violin at the age of seven. A few years later she switched to the viola. In her childhood she also sang in the "Gumpoldskirchner Spatzen" choir, in which she became acquainted with the classics of the Viennese salon music such as the "Danube Waltz". During her viola studies with Prof. Thomas Selditz at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, Stephanie devoted herself intensively to chamber music, with a particular emphasis on string quartets. As a quartet member, she was awarded prizes within international competitions, most notably as the best violist of the "Concorso Massimiliano Antonelli" competition in Italy.
In Vienna Stephanie Drach regularly plays in orchestras such as the Tonkünstler Orchester Niederösterreich, the Volksoper Vienna, as well as the Vienna Chamber Orchestra. Numerous tours within Europe and to Asia complement her diverse concert schedule. As a native Viennese, Stephanie is particularly fond of the music of her home city and hopes to share the special charm, elegance and lightness of this genre with audiences.
